The 5th round of the 1/5 Large-scale radio-controlled model championship in Aizkraukle!

On August 24th, the 5th round of the LSCrc Latvia 1/5 Large-Scale Radio-Controlled Model Championship took place on the newly built track by the RC Rots team in Aizkraukle!

Although the weather forecast predicted rain, which could have disrupted the race, the conditions turned out to be favorable, allowing both fans and participants to enjoy a warm and sunny day without rain.

Given that this was not the first race on this track, the drivers who had tested adjustments and tire choices in previous rounds already knew how to prepare their cars for the best results in this round.

Race overviewAfter the qualifying rounds in the 2WD Baja group, it seemed that the battle would continue between Raitis Amatnieks and Jānis Krūtainis, who were separated by only one point in the overall standings.

However, motorsports are unpredictable, and although Jānis set the fastest lap time in the final race, he did not make it to the finish line. The fight for first place continued between Aigars Indersons and Artūrs Žīgurs, but they were unable to challenge Raitis, finishing one and two laps behind, respectively.

The final results:

• 1st place – Raitis Amatnieks,
• 2nd place – Aigars Indersons,
• 3rd place – Artūrs Žīgurs.

In the 2WD group, it seemed that overall leader Māris Kazāks would not pose a challenge to his competitors in this round, as he struggled with technical issues throughout the qualifying rounds.

However, in the final race, Māris demonstrated his ability to overcome all technical challenges, securing the victory.

Dainius Mikelėnas finished in second place, and Vytautas Agliniskis, who set the fastest lap time but lacked stability throughout the final, finished third.

Special mention goes to the youngest participant in this group, Ritvars Elksnis, who, despite his youthful exuberance in previous rounds, adhered to his driving rhythm and strategy in this race, finishing in 4th place.

In the 4WD group, Lithuanian racer Audrius Vaitiekunas expressed his determination to finally fight for a podium finish, tired of always finishing fourth. Unfortunately, once again, he had to settle for the same position as his competitors proved to be significantly faster.

The fight for first place was not particularly intense as Māris Kazāks showed from the start who would dominate the race. A more intense battle ensued for second place, where Jānis Laimiņš managed to maintain enough distance from Jevgenijs Kuhalskis, the second-place holder in the overall standings, preventing any threat to his position.

Another day full of adrenaline and positive emotions As the racers themselves joke – this is a harmless hobby, but it’s addictive. It was great to see that throughout the day, spectators didn’t hesitate to visit the technical park, where the racers, despite being in tense conditions, were happy to share their experiences and the opportunities to purchase or build such racing models, thus expanding the circle of drivers.

There are still two rounds ahead, with the next one coming very soon – on September 7th, right here in Aizkraukle, at Enerģētiķu iela 6.

The championship is nearing its logical conclusion, and the fight for the overall standings is intensifying. It is expected that the new participants of this season could also enter the fight for the podium in the overall standings, preventing the experienced drivers from resting on their laurels.
